On July 16, 2026, at approximately 9:03 a.m., a Statesboro Police Department officer was patrolling the area of Johnson St when they noticed the odor of marijuana coming from an apartment. The officer approached the individuals outside the apartment and smelled the odor of marijuana stronger. A male individual handed the officer a plastic bag containing marijuana. The male was also found to have an outstanding warrant through the Effingham County Sheriff's Office.
The individual was cited for City Ordinance Possession of Marijuana and placed under arrest for the FTA warrant. They were transported to the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office and turned over to jail staff. The marijuana was collected as evidence.
